Boshipota : A New Addition to Bengal Birding Map

Boshipota is a small quiet village near Dankuni and now it is one of the favourite birding hotspots among the kolkata birders. Be there in an early morning and you will find yourself lost in different birds call around the grassland, paddyfields etc. Like CKBS, Nalban, East Kolkata wetlands - this place becomes a popular destination of birders, photographers and nature lovers during October to Feburary but also brings lots of variety through out the year. Few major sighting of Boshipota are - Common rosefinch, Eurasian wryneck, Indian silverbill, Bluethroat, Pied harrier, Eurasian marsh harrier, Yellow bellied prinia, Stonechat, Black shouldered kite and many more.

How to reach:-

Take a train to Uttarpara. Just outside the station, there is autorickshaw stand. Take an auto to Raghunathpur Bazar. It’s a 5-6 minutes drive. Getting down at Raghunathpur Bazar, cross the road. Ask anybody for ‘Boshipota’. You have to walk down for 10 minutes, where the asphalt topped road ends and brick layered road starts. Go further, you will find the bird haven. Open grassland on your left and paddy-field on the right..
