Kayalar bagan is fairly known as Chintamoni kar bird sanctuary nowadays. Earlier the place was bit popular as picnic spot in name of Kayalar bagan. The place can be reached via Garia - it is 5 km from the Garia bus stop on the way to Baruipur. The orchard is spreaded over 17 acres. The sanctuary is home of varieties of birds (nearly 150 types), butterflies, reptiles, mamals and many orchids. Shyamkhola is nearby to this garden - just 3km away. Good place for migratory and wader birding....

It is a house of many common birds of kolkata, few rare birds as well as passage migrant. During March - april, you can find nesting of few birds on the tree top.

The place shyamkhola houses good number of migratory birds during winter - like cotton teal, phesant tailed jacana, gadwall, pintail as well as lesser whistling teal.

Except birds - you can see variety of butterflies, monitor lizard, civet, jungle cat etc.

How to reach
Chintamani Kar Bird Sanctuary is located in South 24-Parganas, on the road connecting Garia with Baruipur. Best route to reach is to take Auto Riskaw from Garia or Buses plying towards Baruipur and to get down at Rathtala stoppage. Localities can help you to find the place from Rathtala; they address it as Koyalar Bagan. It is just 10-15 mtrs walking distance from the bus stoppage. To visit Shyamkhola, you can take the same route and get dropped at the Kalipur
