| Friends!!
This week saturday - i got company of Sudipto Roy and my wife to explore Nalban and surrouding during the return migration period. Well, we were lucky to find five - six gargany among a small flock of gadwals in the nalban jheel. After this trip - I had a mail conversation with Sumit da; He mentioned - that sometimes large flocks of Great Crested Grebe , Common shelduck come & stay here for some time on the way to return migration; This year - i found two rarities like Eurasian Wigeon and Gargany here in Nalban. In one of last post - i mentioned that birding at Nalban is always interesting during march month - and really it is happening. This time what we found - the list i am sharing.. 1) Plaintive cuckoo 2) Common moorhen 3) Gargany 4) Gadwal 5) Grey Heron 6) Barn swallow 7) Red wattled lapwing (a single) 8) Common snipe (flying around) 9) Bengal bush lark 10) Clamorous reed warbler 11) Plain prinia 12) Brown shrike 13) Common kingfisher and white throated kingfisher 14) Large egret 15) Striated grassbird and other common birds - egrets, cormorant, asian pied starling etc Thanks, Amit | |
