| Friends,
This sunday i made a wonderful trip at Nalban and surrounding bheri....i started my birding at around 6.15 in the morning. I take the route from left side of the jheel horizontal to the SDF building opposite face....At the entry one can find a banabibi temple....there i find 4 types of kingfisher - stork billed , common , white throated and pied. One pied kingfisher was circling in the sky and i find it near the temple. Moving forward - i spot two grey herons among the floating gadwals. Mainly gadwals and pintails i was able to find in the water. Opposite the jheel - i find long tailed shrike in good number (12 - 15 ) and the striated grassbird (5 - 6) ...... white wagtails are missing - only 2 / 3 yellow wagtails i find. Here is the complete list of birds i find : 1) Grey heron 2) Northern pintail 3) Gadwals 4) Long tailed shrike 5) Brown shrike 6) Striated grassbird 7) Clamorous reed warbler 8) Small blue kingfisher 9) Pied kingfisher 10) Stork billed kingfisher 11) White throated kingfisher 12) Yellow wagtail 13) Barn swallow 14) Large billed crow 15) Little Egret 16) Common sandpiper 17) Coppersmith barbet 18) Black hooded oriole 19) Yellow bittern 20) Little cormorant 21) Plain prinia 22) Spotted dove Well, i find march month is always good for birding at Nalban bheri - plenty of birding oppurtunities here and there. Thanks, Amit | |
